If people can pursue their study to the point of expertise, I think we all benefit immensely. Even if that means the ones that want to study art (ahem) get to do so for free.
I am not talking about philosophy. When I was in college, I had to take a certain array of courses although they had no bearing on my major. Science, math, language, history, etc.

I am talking about the MASSIVE numbers of law students we have that will never practice law. Teachers, etc.

Kids are going to want middle class lives. That's the reason why we should pay for their college.

Study interpretive dance on your own dime.

Well by the logic that taxpayers should only fund college towards jobs, in a way you are talking about philosophy, and art, and 18th century English literature, or whatever the powerful in society think that those without means "don't need to be learning about".

If you support the concept of education as a right, you have to give people the freedom to pick what they learn about, or really you don't see them as people who deserve the freedom to pursue their own life. You (and I don't mean you specifically-just that it's a sort of underpinning of this belief that i think applies to anyone) don't support public education, you support government sponsored training.

    Training for what?

Well for whatever you're needed for, silly.

    Needed by who?

    "The Economy"

    Who controls that?
    Thanks from Kontrary
