Given the history of that particular word, adding the N word is not necessary.
Nor is it the "wrong use of a word." It was the intentional use of a word that is used to put down black people who think they're the equal of whites. That's the history of the term that has no place in the modern world.

What racist idea have I ever expressed? Try hard. You won't find it.

I find this to be a niggardly complaint on your part. And I mean that in ALL sincerity.

Many agree with you. But it's been hammered into my brain that words are only symbols of the meanings the individual intends.

Communication is the process of evoking the meaning in the listener's mind that matches the intention of the speaker.

So when the listener says "in my mind that word in that context has a racist meaning and I wish you would use another word"

I say, "not my intention, I will use another word."

    And so I shall.

But when the state says, you can't use that word and if you do, you will be punished, then the entire communication process is interrupted. And I see that tendency becoming the norm.

That brings up a question of the intelligence of the school board.

I agree. So why are you struggling to accept that "uppity" has racist connotations when directed at someone black?

"The state"? Are you getting snail mail from Obama about your vocabulary?

No one even suggested banning "uppity" on PH, which is private property.
    Thanks from BigLeRoy
