What I probably should do is post every murder committed by a jealous spouse.
That would probably get more attention.

Perhaps you should courageously tell people they are "Dicks" from behind the safe confines of your PC screen!

By creating a dependence on a central authoritarian government. I know. I simply reject that collectivist approach for me and mine.

We're better off not taking that approach. You do that. We need a different path.

And you are quite the brave, little man.

But, what is your problem with After School activities?

Did the "Jocks" pick on you?

The "Band" people taunt you with tales of what goes on at Band Camp?

Did those mean people in the Drama club throw you out?

No wonder you have so many personal issues.

I reject the collectivist approach of raising children by federal government. as you've already indicated the only thing "the state" can be expected to do, in varying degrees of competency, is to prosecute parents who break the law.

You have perfectly good looking families on the outside, mother, dad, that are shitty parents and raise messed up kids. Shit, even well respected community members like pastors can raise messed up kid. and a single mom or gay couple can raise great kids
All true. Still, as a teacher, as a father, as a husband, as a son, the very best results I've seen in raising well adapted children is in the two biological parent paradigm. It is what it is.

    Single Motherhood: Worse for children.

I think the BIG thing is getting as many extracurricular activities as possible.

    Maybe some:

--Intramural Sports, where EVERYONE who wants, gets a chance to compete (Just make certain to break the school's better athletes out, amongst ALL the intramural teams...)

--DANCING! YES, I know, I know....boys won't do it. Until High School and they notice that many girls REALLY like to dance. Seriously. DANCE is one of THE best things for a youngster. It gives exercise. It is very social. AND, most importantly....it is something that will stick with you, as long as you can move!

--Sure would be nice if schools could work out a deal with local golf courses to get some more kids out on the course. Typically, when someone plays a round of golf, they are hooked, golf-addicts. And, while no golfer myself, this is something that will stick with you as long as you can move.

--PUSH for SPECIALTY "clubs." D&D clubs, Chess Clubs, MOVIE watching clubs. Doesn't HAVE to be anything athletic, or special. Just something to get kids with other kids.

--The MAIN thing is to take note of those who are always "distant," and seem unable to make social connections. When noticed, then, the sooner an adult takes notice, and, perhaps discusses things with the parents, the sooner the child/teen can be helped.

But, in the long run.....these social issues tend to be very personal, and, I think it is always best for people to be put in a situation in which they can work through it. Obviously, there are kids who get picked on and harassed. THIS is where action needs to be taken, but, I will tell you the ABSOLUTE, VERY BEST THING for a kid being bullied: Having another kid stand beside him or her, and stand UP for them.

THAT teaches far more, than most realize........

Will you expand on this? I don't see what is so different about today than any other time. Teaching children the skills they need to survive is the most important job of parents.
