Because their constituents don't want their taxes raised. Americans in general already believe their taxes are way too high.

    No worries.

Le Pen doesn't have a chance in the election.

    The polls say so!

Unless there's yet another radical Muslim terrorist murder in France between now and then.

And, France has plenty of radical Muslim terrorist murderers.

well, of course they do. that's because the average American taxpayer gets very little for their tax payments. but, if they really knew what they could get - and avoid paying for it out-of-pocket - then it might be more palatable for them.

    Interesting family life as well.

French presidential candidate Macron's teacher-student romance is supporting his campaign.

And we have some of the lowest in the developed world, especially for the wealthy.

I think, though, it's because for even what we do pay in taxes, we don't really get much back. Medicare and Social Security are funded by their own payroll taxes, while the majority of our income taxes gets funneled into runaway military spending. Then, while wages have stagnated, prices have been rising. People never feel like they have any money, and so they go further into debt off cheap credit.

If we could reform Medicare to be a universal, single-payer system, that would be one of the largest personal costs off the backs of Americans. We also need a renaissance in dense, sustainable, and affordable urban development to drive down the cost of housing. Then, if we did have a slow broad increase in taxes, mainly for upper incomes, with a lowering of tax rates for the poorest, there could be some substantial social development undertaken.

That's just it, they get UHC, free tuition and retirement. Would you complain about your taxes being raised if you never had to save for those 3 things?? I sure wouldn't. Those are the 3 biggest expenditures.

Yeah - I know - Americans are reasonable people, that's why Mr., Mrs. and Miss Trump will not become prÚsident of the USA. By the way: Ivanka is a reason to be a little jealous of the USA. Since when speak your politicians "sexy"? I thought this language is unknown in the USA. Then came Michelle and her daughters ... and now Melania and her stepdaughter ... What's really going on in your country? A revolution?

Terrorists exist since thousands of years. Normally we fight with their own methods against them. But our soldiers and policemen continuously don't like to do suicide. No idea why. I guess we have to give someone the order to think again about the problem and to solve it with good methods ...
