It is better that they go ahead and just die early, saves the country some money.

If that is their choice what right do you have to take it away from them?

No one's going to open a manufacturing plant in those places. Why? Besides, Trump promised them coal mining jobs in places like WV and Kentucky. I just think anyone thinking coal is a good clean form of energy has shit for brains and while I sympathize with the people left in the lurch, they should be trying to get new industries in their areas, not mining. They should ask their reps to help them transition, not go backwards. You can't get your health back.

Because as we've already seen, the cost of coal causes more than just damage to miner's lungs.

The water crisis in WV a couple of years ago was caused by a coal washing chemical leaking into the water supply. Then there's the pollution caused by coal fired power plants and then there's the waste left over from that.

It's the dirtiest energy there is. We can do better.

Actually Clinton had proposed to get them into a job re-training program.

    What a sad story.

Isn't it great that MM signed this??

President Trump on Thursday signed legislation ending a key Obama administration coal mining rule.

The bill quashes the Office of Surface Mining's Stream Protection Rule, a regulation to protect waterways from coal mining waste that officials finalized in December.

The legislation is the second Trump has signed into law ending an Obama-era environmental regulation. On Tuesday, he signed a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution undoing a financial disclosure requirement for energy companies.

And he's going to sign this one next week..

President Trump is reportedly planning to sign an executive order next week to repeal numerous Obama administration environmental policies.

The order will have several provisions to undo Obama rules and policies, including ending the Interior Department’s moratorium on new coal mining on federal land and starting the process of repealing the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean Power Plan, Reuters reported, citing a White House official.

How long do you suppose it takes to develop a case of black lung? Do you suppose miners currently use better respirator masks than the sick retirees used in the past? Rising incidence of black lung is clearly JFKs fault... damn democrats just don't care, no matter how often they claim they do...

I'm sure if they saw a way to do that, they would.
