    What the H?

Someone posted on my friend's facebook wall that they just received a letter from their insurance company saying the insurance company will no longer be covering their daughter's insulin ..."to reduce your costs and improve safety".

My mother-in-law is diabetic and I gave her a ride to the pharmacy the other day. When the bag containing her insulin and test strips came back from the window the label read:

    Cash Price: $1095.00
    Insurance Co Pay: $10

I'm thinking no one actually pays that cash price for one month's worth of test strips and insulin. Either it's insurance, some other coverage, or they go without.
    Thanks from Friday13 and Madeline

    No they don't.

Sounds like your mother-in-law needs a better insurance company.

You must not take medications. You must not had to make moves with your doctor as the costs of generic medications skyrocket.

I had two medication last year that I used on a daily basis rise in price to which I had to find a new drug regime as the medications were the lowest cost for what the drugs did.

According to the American Diabetes Association, the cost of insulin has tripled in the past ten years. In fact, the cost of insulin per patient in the U.S. has risen from $231 to $736 a year.
    Google information once in awhile.

Many insulins can be bought OTC at Wal-Mart for $25 to $30 a vial.

The long acting insulins and the pens are what so expensive.

This wasn't pasted. This was a reply among friends to another post about healthcare costs. I googled to see if it was some sort of meme, and no matches came up.

So, thank you for your concern, but if that's all you have, then I will treat this as an accurate report from a parent whose child just took a heavy blow from an insurance company.
