That's true, the taxpayer does. For some strange reason the right wants it that way.

Reminds me of this show, "Make a Wish"

Aren't you the one who met Tom Chapin?

He used to run his words something like your above post in the show^ but it doesn't translate as well to text.

    Thx

Yeah, I'm amazed you remember that. I met him when he performed here in Sarasota about 18 years ago or so, maybe longer. Anyway, yeah he was an amazing artist. I like his straight stuff (not children's) more than his brother, Harry. Back in the day, about 1972-3 my buddies and I would sometime get a buzz on and watch "Make A Wish" on PBS. It was very mind blowing in that state and a laugh-a-minute. And, yeah, it was super fast paced and with no paragraphs in sight either LOL. Back then I said to him, "I wish there was something as good on TV as Make a Wish and he said he was talking to PBS execs about bringing the show back but I guess it never materialized. Thanks for the chuckle.

Yes, but was it a good dizzy or a bad dizzy? We could all use a good dizzy. BTW, you do look dizzy in your avatar. Didn't know cats could type. Amazing what they're doing with prosthetics these days.

Here's the reality that kills this law one way or another: the health insurance industry is not invincible. It could implode as a result of an adverse selection death spiral. The GOP and conservatives have their heads completely in the sand about this, and haven't a clue what to do about it.

This will sound crazy and absurd and counterintuitive, but what they should do is staring them in the face: introduce single payer. They can deal with accusations of hypocrisy and flip-flopping, big fucking deal in the grand scheme of things. It's the only right and intelligent thing to do, and ironically enough, it could save the party. A collapsed health insurance and subsequently health care industry, on the other hand, could sink the party.
that, of course, is what "medicare for all" is. I would propose that and, at the same time, increase the current medicare tax to 6.45% of income with no wage limit. all pay, and all qualify. medicare will administer the payout (and revenues) with it's current price controls. medicaid and veterans care are merged in and discontinued as a cost cutting measure. all funds mow on the books for the discontinued system will be made available to the new, single system. so there you have it.

Gosh... do you really think so? Maybe the public likes paying twice as much as the rest of the world.

Will we have to pass it to know what's in it?

I already know what's in what I pass, and I'm thinking it's about the same thing.
