The New Hampshire Insurance Department on Tuesday said it received “initial form filings” from four insurance companies that intend to offer medical plans under the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare.

The four companies are Anthem, Harvard Pilgrim, Minuteman Health and Ambetter from NH Healthy Families.

What a difference an election makes. A year ago, the individual market was thriving in New Hampshire. Its four insurers and a 2 percent increase in rates were the exception to the rising costs and lack of competition that afflicted most of the rest of the nation.

    Maybe these articles are wrong??
Minuteman bankrupted last year and came up with a whole new list of doctors so we had to find a new doctor mid year. Screwed a lot of people out of deductible too. Also when I traveled to see friends in NY the hospital refused the insurance because they hadn't heard of it, so we had to pay upfront. Its horrible horrible insurance. Rates went up 50% three years ago and now they could go up again that much next year. Harvard and Anthem wont insure Medicaid. So that makes it a massive problem.

They always say they are leaving but leave it open to coming back. They are nervous about Republicans. Figure they do not know their testicles from a brass ball.

Why do you think Congress is now working together? They know who will be blamed if the ACA collapses.

Ahh, got it . So strange that Harvard and Anthem wont insure Medicaid.

    Here's what I'm hoping for.

A bi-partisan effort to fix the holes in the ACA. It would be a win-win situation for now. The current administration should back off trying to kill it off piece by piece.

I think because we charge the most for health care/insurance than any other country - that eventually we will have no choice but to go to single payer.

Right, and if healthcare goes down the tubes while the president, senate and house are all republican we will know who to blame. It's like your hero said, if the repubs don't repeal the ACA, they own it.

I would make accepting the medicaid expansion for states mandatory as the first step to saving it. Then increase paycheck deductions to provide the funds to those above the subsidization level, those are the one being screwed. Just suggestions so you don't take all the blame for healthcare failing.

Because all of the additional people who would have been covered by Medicaid wind up in the exchanges instead. Add to that the fact that many of them will simply opt to be uninsured, and the insurance providers have to cover the addition cost of indigent care. That's what caused our private sector market to fail to begin with. Too many uninsured people getting free medical care. Those of us who did maintain coverage had to carry their weight.

Republicans have done a great job of making it impossible for insurance companies to know if they'll have a reliable revenue stream.

Throw "business friendly" out the window, right along with so many of the other core principles that used to define the Republican Party.

Obama's failures still screwing the American people anally without lube.

This 900 billion dollar healthcare plan (that has a 1,200 billion dollar over budget) of Obama's has not cost millions of people EXCELLENT insurance coverage, replaced it with shit coverage that those that get subsidies get insurance but cannot use it because of the 7000 dollar deductible, or they have no insurance coverage for their region.
