Single-payer health care means you might be denied surgery for being too fat

So Britain is experiencing way too many costs under their UHC plan so they are being forced to ration car.

A new policy says that fat people will have to wait a year to get surgery's or lose the weight.

This is what we can expect here if liberals get their way.

Do people who are overweight or obese deserve health care? In the United Kingdom's socialized health care system, the answer appears to be "no." And if Democrats get their way, the same could be true in the United States.
To save money, the U.K. National Health Service recently announced it will ban obese patients from many surgeries for up to a year. Such rationing is standard in single-payer health care systems. Americans will face the same fate if Democrats can enact Medicare for All here.*

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., recently introduced his Medicare for All bill backed by 15 other Democratic senators. His call to create such a single-payer health care system was a major part of his failed campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination last year.

In addition, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., is urging Democrats to make single-payer a centerpiece of their upcoming campaigns.
Known as "lifestyle rationing," the new British policy debunks the myth that single-payer systems deliver truly universal health care.

The rule applies to patients with a body mass index of 30 or higher. It would hit a 5-foot-10 man who weighs more than 209 pounds, or a 5-foot-4 woman who weighs more than 174 pounds. These patients will have to wait a year, or lose 10 percent of their weight, before they can receive elective surgeries like hip or knee replacements.
The National Health Service in Britain believes such discriminatory rationing is the "best way of achieving maximum value from the limited resources available."

I can’t even muster any energy to set anything straight.

You’re not going to believe me, any Brits or anyone else who have lived every day of their life in places with single payer health insurance. You’re going to believe Fox News and that childish, tabloid tone they use. Articles written in the voice of an 8 year old. Like The National Enquirer et al.

Youre going to believe that I happily subject myself and my family to third world, outrageously failed health care and you’re NOT going to reason that it makes far more sense that Fox News is lying than it would that I am, when the lives of every single person I know is at stake.

Either Fox News is full of shit, or I’m willingly sacrificing my wife and children to a dystopian life of illness and misery, happily, and too dumb to care. Well logically it must be Knuckles and Leo and Dangermouse and Paris who are lying. Fox News would never lie so these real people must be too dumb to know that they’re living in some nightmare gulag with awful healthcare.

Enjoy your tiny, ridiculous little world. Me, I feel angry when I’m lied to and made a patsy. I guess others see things differently v

It’s hard to pick a favourite when it comes to this topic, but this is an all time great. Truly wonderful.

In 2009 an editorial in the USs “Investor’s Business Daily” was so concerned about the British System they printed the following.

"The controlling of medical costs in countries such as Britain through rationing, and the health consequences thereof, are legendary," read a recent editorial from the paper. "The stories of people dying on a waiting list or being denied altogether read like a horror script...

"People such as scientist Stephen Hawking wouldn't have a chance in the UK, where the National Health Service would say the life of this brilliant man, because of his physical handicaps, is essentially worthless."

The punchline here: in the real world, Stephan Hawking IS British. And his medical care IS provided by the NHS there.

    He responded as follows.

"I wouldn’t be here today if it were not for the NHS," Hawking told The Guardian. "I have received a large amount of high-quality treatment without which I would not have survived."

So of course the Investors Business Daily Immediately has the integrity and dignity to retract and apologize to Britain? Haha. Of course not. They have a paying readership that demands confirmation of their idiot prejudices. Of course they didn’t. They corrected the article by admitting he was British ... and that’s it. I guess the rest of the article was fine.

All you can do is whine about the source and say how wrong it is.

Why don't you try actually disputing it with facts that show its a lie?

I wont complain about the source, but I will say that several of our foreign members here on this forum have noted that the current govt in Britain has been doing some severe austerity and cutback programs within the NHS. So it might be completely possible. If the govt is trying to undermine the system over there, which some have alleged, then this doesn't seem far fetched.

So Conservatives have power in Britain and are cutting funding to their health service just like the GOP in the US, what else is new? Conservatives do not give a fuck, pretty simple.

Comparing what US single payer health care could be to another nation's single payer system ...is like believing US democracy would mirror another nations' democracy.

If the US adopted the UK system health care system ...word for word...law for law, then a comparison could be entertained; Otherwise...it's ridiculous to do so.

We all know once Democrats finally get UHC passed, when Republicans get power they will try to repeal it, defund it, or fuck with it any way they can, we have current history to see their ploys
