As far as the Op device, I can't imagine to many women who were interested in that big ugly thing in the 19th century. They did not have access to birth control, some birthed baby after baby, naturally at home without pain control. I imagine this thing would have been buried in a drawer collecting dust.
Didn't doctors sometimes use them as "treatment" devices for women with emotional issues (the kind of thing once called "female hysteria")? Really creepy...but they did it.

Since it appears to have an electrical cord coming out of it. Yes. That would be the handle.

OH shit, I didn't notice that was the cord coming out... That would make the business end that metal nub on the other end... Wouldn't that leave someone numb for a week?

Doctors were basically scamming husbands into sending their wives to the doctor in order to receive orgasms as a form of treatment. Women happily went regularly, but it was expensive, thus the invention of "long dong silver." Buuzzzzzzzz!
