did your friend escape catching it?

Ironically she didnt get sick and didnt get the shot. Her hubs is quite a bit older and it was strongly recommended for him. She is in her 40s and doesnt normally get flu shots yet. However she did have the flu twice in the last 4 years so I wonder if this years variant isnt some combination of that strain and she had it?

Fortunately for me I never get the flu (knock on wood). The only time I thought I might have was when my brother brought the swine flu from Florida to where I live and many of my friends got sick. I had a fever but no other symptoms. It was weird. Some of my friends were deathly ill and doctor said it was likely swine flu (or whatever nasty flu was going around several years ago)

I should have kept quiet, cherub just called me and she has it, but I made her 40 clove garlic chicken soup when I was there, froze it and she has her sick pillow, filled with lavender and rosemary. Of course she did see the doc.

If it's the same strain (or similar) to that which Australia was unprepared for (vaccines are based on previously known strains) it is quite vicious.
