Seems like school shootings wouldn't exactly be having a positive net gain on life expectancy in America.

I explained it in my post. You can either write out an argument that it is incorrect or you cannot. It is your choice.

I'm not going to waste my time despite your cordial invitation.

    Thanks, but no thanks.

Sadly, school shootings really do a number on our life expectancy stats.

In fairness, the opiate epidemic was rolling right along well before Obama was even president. Although I do think it's embarrassing that he got the ACA passed and then life expectancy declined.

You seem good at googling images. Try googling the number of deaths by rifle per year.

Without googling, I can tell you in just two incidents one last year, one this year, 558 people were wounded (58 of them killed) last week there were 17 killed.

    Here are some more:

Here is a list of mass shootings in the U.S. that featured AR-15-style rifles during the last 35 years, courtesy of the Stanford Geospatial Center and Stanford Libraries and USA TODAY research:

Feb. 24, 1984: Tyrone Mitchell, 28, used an AR-15, a Stoeger 12-gauge shotgun and a Winchester 12-gauge shotgun to kill two and wound 12 at 49th Street Elementary School in Los Angeles before killing himself.

Oct. 7, 2007: Tyler Peterson, 20, used an AR-15 to kill six and injure one at an apartment in Crandon, Wis., before killing himself.

June 20, 2012: James Eagan Holmes, 24, used an AR-15-style .223-caliber Smith and Wesson rifle with a 100-round magazine, a 12-gauge Remington shotgun and two .40-caliber Glock semi-automatic pistols to kill 12 and injure 58 at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo.

Dec. 14, 2012: Adam Lanza, 20, used an AR-15-style rifle, a .223-caliber Bushmaster, to kill 27 people — his mother, 20 students and six teachers — in Newtown, Conn., before killing himself.

June 7, 2013: John Zawahri, 23, used an AR-15-style .223-caliber rifle and a .44-caliber Remington revolver to kill five and injure three at a home in Santa Monica, Calif., before he was killed.

March 19, 2015: Justin Fowler, 24, used an AR-15 to kill one and injure two on a street in Little Water, N.M., before he was killed.

May 31, 2015: Jeffrey Scott Pitts, 36, used an AR-15 and .45-caliber handgun to kill two and injure two at a store in Conyers, Ga., before he was killed.

Oct. 31, 2015: Noah Jacob Harpham, 33, used an AR-15, a .357-caliber revolver and a 9mm semi-automatic pistol to kill three on a street in Colorado Springs, Colo., before he was killed.

Dec. 2, 2015: Syed Rizwyan Farook and Tashfeen Malik, 28 and 27, used two AR-15-style, .223-caliber Remington rifles and two 9 mm handguns to kill 14 and injure 21 at his workplace in San Bernardino, Calif., before they were killed.

June 12, 2016: Omar Mateen, 29, used an AR-15 style rifle (a Sig Sauer MCX), and a 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol to kill 49 people and injure 50 at an Orlando nightclub before he was killed.

Oct. 1, 2017: Stephen Paddock, 64, used a stockpile of guns including an AR-15 to kill 58 people and injure hundreds at a music festival in Las Vegas before he killed himself.

Nov. 5, 2017: Devin Kelley, 26, used an AR-15 style Ruger rifle to kill 26 people at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, before he was killed.

Feb. 14, 2018: Police say Nikolas Cruz, 19, used an AR-15-style rifle to kill at least 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

How about you tell us how citizens with guns stopped those two killings? Moreover, tell us how ANYONE, but the person who shot other people, stopped the shooters, before they killed ANYONE, much less, multiples of people?

How many shooters? How many dead and wounded? The guns as a problem to guns as the solution ratio, is what, in just the above listed? How many "good guys" dead or wounded, how many "bad guys"?

People shot and wounded last year, by firearms?

Do like the idea that the U.S. is first in deaths per capita, by firearm, among developed nations?

Cost of gun violence: hospital charges for 100,000 shot annually reach $2.8bn
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-hopkins-study

"More than 32,000 persons die and over 67,000 persons are injured by firearms each year. Case fatality rates are highest for self-harm related firearm injuries, followed by assault-related injuries. Males, racial/ethnic minority populations, and young Americans (with the exception of firearm suicide) are disproportionately affected. The severity of such injuries is distributed relatively evenly across outcomes from outpatient treatment to hospitalization to death. Firearm injuries result in over $48 billion in medical and work loss costs annually, particularly fatal firearm injuries. From 1993 to 1999, rates of firearm violence declined significantly. Declines were seen in both fatal and nonfatal firearm violence and across all types of intent. While unintentional firearm deaths continued to decline from 2000 to 2012, firearm suicides increased and nonfatal firearm assaults increased to their highest level since 1995."

Yipee! USA USA USA!!!! Come to America, NUMBER ONE in the developed world for chances of getting shot!!

Not just SAD, but SICK!!! That Americans will tolerate children being shot DEAD, but will not tolerate the firearms that kill those children being barred, but for "the people" in "a well regulated militia" actually defending their state and their nation, instead of playing "macho man" ONLY because they're standing behind the barrel of a gun. Take the gun away and they're castrated cowards......

Life expectancy is NOT falling for older people, it is falling for YOUNGER people.......between a drug and gun prescribing culture, America is leading the world.....NOT in good ways!!

    https://www.scientificamerican.com/a...s-are-soaring/

AT LEAST something is being done about the opioid problem, beginning with how they are prescribed. Imagine if drug companies had a rating system for politicians and judicial candidates and had a massive propaganda program claiming how the "evil" "left" and "liberals" were trying to take your pain medications away and that the only way to solve the opioid crisis was for doctors to prescribe MORE opioids!!!

America is NOT perfect and the ONLY way it can get closer to perfect is to NOT hide our heads in the sand about its imperfections and face them head on to make the nation less IMPERFECT.......That AIN'T gonna happen when too many Americans hide their heads in the sand and refuse to acknowledge this nation's imperfections, refusing to DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEM!!
