I don't care what adults to to "cure" their aliments...

I draw the line when 'parents' try bullshit remedies on children who have no voice in their treatment.

There are tons of so called parents in prison for 'experimenting' with a child's health and life with...'alternative' remedies.

There are too many kids in cemeteries because of the fucked up actions of their care takers.
    Thanks from Friday13 and Arkady

For the longest time I used to confuse Homeopaths with Naturopathic Doctors.
I know one type is a quackery, Hompeopaths.
The other does have its uses and can be effective treatment for some conditions.

NDs can perform minor surgeries, such as removing cysts or stitching up superficial wounds. However, they do not practice major surgery. NDs are trained to utilize prescription drugs, although the emphasis of naturopathic medicine is the use of natural healing agents.

Truly, there once was a Doctor named Quack! I kid you not!
    BigLeRoy once made a Limerick
About some doctor who made me sick
    I never went back
    To that scene-stealing hack
Except to hit him with a brick

And, of course, anyone who advocates against vaccinations (which by far does not characterize all naturopaths) is nuts.

I guess it's the nature of essentially having no controls on procreation. If you want to take care of someone else's kids, there's all sorts of quality control, at least in a state like mine (Massachusetts). To run a daycare you need to pass background checks and have a good adult-to-child ratio, and have training in things like CPR, and inspections by the state of your facilities, and meet various nutrition standards, and so on. But if you just want to create a bunch of kids of your own, you have wide latitude to do whatever you like, until there are actual signs of abuse. So, a bunch of people who have no business being entrusted with children are, simply because they made those children.

It's all placebo, endorphins, and hocus pocus.

Well, no hocus-pocus - just needles. The electricity stimulating the muscles is similar to the TENS unit I have, except that of course the TENS is not invasive and its effects are generally temporary (like acetaminophen in that respect). It is also different in that the acupuncture stimulates the muscle, while the TENS suppresses pain. They both work to a limited degree. Of course, I've only done acupuncture infrequently, and not at all since I got the TENS (which I also use sparingly).
