Vaccines, like drugs, go through rigorous testing, to ensure safety, but nothing is 100%. If you don't want a vaccine, don't take it. If you don't want your kids to have vaccines, that's your choice. Of course, if a doctor refuses to keep you as a patient or a school rejects your children as health hazards to other kids, that's their choice too.

Interesting, did you see my link attributing 106k per year dying from taking medication the way it was intended to be taken? Rigorous, eh? I think it's funny you guys get to pretend you're on the side of science while using some very unscientific key words to support some extremely unscientific opinions.

Moving on, so nothing is foolproof, but not everything which isn't fool proof CAUSES death. What else do you support as a mandate which might cause your death?

BTW, it's 100% fair for schools and doctors to refuse kids who haven't satisfied the vaccine schedule, so long as it remains fair to claim my religious exemption/win.
For instance, I still haven't vaccinated my 8-month-old against HP fucking V.

You haven't got lung or mouth cancer, so why quit smoking?

Then don't get the shot. Have unprotected sex with strange women. Snort bath salts. It's a choice. I elect to have my shots. If you don't, then don't. However, like mentioned above, if a doctor elects to stop seeing you or your kids or a school rejects them from attendance, that's their choice too. It's a free country. Ridicule it all you like.

DW, the people that I see ridiculing are the vaccination supporters, not the other way around. Take another look. Do you actually see Sparta or me saying anything bad about people who choose to vaccinate?

So we have this sliding scale of both how sick you might get from the ailment and how sick you might get if you have a reaction to the vaccine.
Always a consideration. However, since the vast majority of medical doctors recommend the shots, I take their advice.

Nothing wrong with faith, unless you seek to force it on other people.

Same goes with science. If people don't want to accept it, fine with me. As we've seen on this forum, people still believe Obama is a Muslim Kenyan, that the Zionists are controlling the globe and that the Moon landings were a hoax. It takes all kinds, eh?

Sorry to hear that, Sparty. Not a medical expert here, but I suspect that infection had more to do with the sanitary conditions of those giving the vaccination rather than from the vaccination itself.

    Encephalitis - PubMed Health

If one has to have a surgery, they risk sepsis, malpractice, even HIV. Still, one has to consider the odds. I have a Small Pox vaccination scar as do most people born before 1971. After 9/11, the concern about a terrorist-driven smallpox epidemic was very high on the list of threats. It still is AFAIK. While a smallpox vaccine given 40 years may not be 100% effective, it's probably still good enough to prevent you from becoming a fatality in the event of an outbreak.
