No, it's proof that Americans are slackers who wait until the very last minute to take care of responsibilities.

No, not all Americans do this and not all are these slackers. I filed and emailed mine to the IRS on the last week of January, and I am an American.

Perhaps it is wise to not speak so badly of Americans in this case.

"The most interesting part is that Chad didn’t buy health insurance when it was available to him for just $45 per month, but did buy it at an unsubsidized $175/month premium. "
It also sounds like the $175 ignores his subsidies. Story sounds suspect to me.

Success story: every young adult under 26 who has coverage now who wouldn't have had it under the old Reagan health care system that was seeing higher health care inflation than the PPACA.

Once the Obamacare clause that concerns pre-existing conditions kicks in this January, we can buy independently, dropping the price to about $1000/mo, saving us about $8000 annually.

There are some gourd-headed individuals who will whine that taxpayers are on the hook for making my care more affordable. Good. My taxes funded some incredibly wasteful wars. I'm glad to see taxes, including my own, used to keep people healthy for a change.
How do your deductibles and copays compare? I know of someone who signed up and they only have a 100 buck monthly premium but they have a high deductible and high copay. They are not well off so there is no way they can pay it should they need surgery or an accident though. Plus they had to get rid of their medical practice and find a new one as they don't accept the new insurance. Our local newspaper is saying that some of the doctors who accept the exchange insurance are now limiting patients so some are finding no new patients allowed which is creating a controversy here, but if you live in a bigger state that might not be a problem.

The story specifically notes that he is not eligible for subsidies.

That's right. Before Beloved Leader, not a single person under 26 in the country ever had health care coverage.

Problem is if you are under 26 and if your parents allow you on their insurance you aren't buying insurance. So why do they keep saying they need a lot of young people to sign up? If you are under 26 and aren't on your parents plan then you most likely already have your own insurance already.
