    David Brooks

    Recently wrote this gem.
Recently I took a friend with only a high school degree to lunch. Insensitively, I led her into a gourmet sandwich shop. Suddenly I saw her face freeze up as she was confronted with sandwiches named “Padrino” and “Pomodoro” and ingredients like soppressata, capicollo and a striata baguette. I quickly asked her if she wanted to go somewhere else and she anxiously nodded yes and we ate Mexican.

I also took a friend who only has a high school diploma to a sandwich shop. I will never forget the fear and confusion in her eyes. She tried to eat napkins. I realized that she was too stupid for sandwiches and took her somewhere else.

Yeah, that's the explanation for our bottom up income redistribution problems.

The proletariat lacks appreciation of Grey Poupon.

Agreed that he chose a very poor and stupid example, doesn't make him look good, and does not support the actual article he put out.

Yet reading the full article, you also have to admit that he takes "issue" with the way how certain less educated individuals are faced with economic and social barriers, and his argument is that those barriers are put in place on purpose by the upper class.
    Thanks from Amelia

    LOL.

He's lucky his friend is too ignorant to be able to read his column.

Yeah, he has a good point ... beyond him trashing his friend in print in the premiere national newspaper.

I'm thinking BROOKS came late to that understanding. I was almost 40 before I heard about REDLINING. Answered sooo many questions and was DESPICABLE! Brooks is way over 40!

I love how the lizard portion of her brain went into overdrive because of some unfamiliar names for lunch meats.
