Everyone here has heard of Thomas Frank from his book What's the Matter with Kansas? a vivid portrait of an upside-down world where blue-collar patriots recite the Pledge while they strangle their life chances; where small farmers cast their votes for a Wall Street order that will eventually push them off their land; and where a group of frat boys, lawyers, and CEOs has managed to convince the country that it speaks on behalf of the People

This is the upside-world that many of us have been posting about for the past 20 years. Clinton gave us welfare reform and signed the repeal of the Glass–Steagall Act into law. It took me a few years to accept the fact that democrats do not represent the working and middle class. Thomas Frank is back in the news with his new book Listen Liberal. Frank wants to know why Obama did little to nothing to break up the too big to fail monopolies.
Bill Clinton. You will know this better than I

I like that MediaMouse article. This thread was designed to share alternative news. The internet helped create and connect a subculture of curious and intelligent people who do not fit in the mainstream. My cyber-friends know more about me than real life friends.

I can't figure out why so many liberals still like Bill Clinton to this day. They deny he did as much damage as Reagan. I stopped watching TV for 6 years because of all the crap spouted by the corporate media, especially the way they sold the wars and a healthy economy.

87% of Americans don't agree on anything but somehow they agreed to support the war in Afghanistan.
After 911 going into Afghanistan seemed legitimate (assuming the CIA was telling it correctly) Iraq seemed weak. Rumsfeld had a huge desire to do Iraq. Digging up excuses was all they needed. The issue of oil, pipelines and petro- dollar complicate legitimate decision making. Hegemony.

This new potential war is on the door steps of Russia and China. This won't be pretty. It's on the other side of the world from us. Three warships out of Japan are laid up with damage . Antetiem, MaCain, Fitzgerald. Seems like they all can't navigate.
