Yep, O'Reilly crushed everyone in ratings.

    Was the "best"
Technically, they just got rid of their "worst".

Your opinions about O'Reilly does not change the facts.

He was the network's most popular commentator. So of course firing him is going to cause a drop in ratings. That would be common sense. But then again - it's no surprise to me you would not understand common sense.

The results speak for themselves - no matter what opinions you or I have about it. The fact some liberal democrat thinks O'Reilly was guilty before he was convicted (or even charged) is to be expected.

If Fox news continues to ax their own employees to avoid controversy in the liberal media the network is doomed. So I hope for their sake they get their act together.
Is there no sexist pig you won't defend?

That post wasn't really defending anyone - sexist pig or otherwise. So your comment really doesn't make much sense.

I am against firing people for crimes they were not even charged with however - let alone convicted of.

I was just pointing out the basic fact that firing your most popular host is going to cause a decrease in ratings. That is simply common sense and is not a defense of sexist pigs.

He did, and Fox really doesn't have the talent to replace him. It was a very stupid decision (even the elder Murdoch said so) but his sons were too cowardly to face the music. Axing your employees to avoid controversy - especially controversy ginned up by your competitors - is a terrible way to run a network.

No one was forcing Fox News to settle these disputes anyway. If these women have legitimate cases let them take it to court and prove them. O'Reilly was certainly game for that. But I guess in America it's just too much to ask for someone to actually be proven guilty in a court of law before firing them for it.
