Not really, no, it is not. Free speech is free speech. Trump and his White House engage in it constantly, with so many fictions and attacks that the real press cannot keep up with all the lies. If they cannot handle others' free speech, then perhaps they cannot themselves be trusted with it either.

But I'll bite: what kind of "line" is there that can be crossed, in this context?

I give her all the credit in the world for attending. For being able to do the one thing that her boss couldn't bring himself to do.

Those rascals can't seem to please no matter what they do.....
could have been two major reasons. She wanted to show solidarity with her media compatriots. But, also wanted to be able to play the victim. Or even, she didn't laugh because she was afraid her boss wouldn't like it.

This has zero to do with "freedom of speech". But you know that.

More the basic norms/levels of civility we recognize in society. And yes, there are acceptable lines.

(And Trump is probably the last person we want to lean to for guidelines. He spends a significant amount of his time in the "uncivil space".)

I don't like Sarah Huckabee Sanders, at all. I find her to be a RIDICULOUS human being. But what this comedienne said about her was, I thought, simply un-funny. That's all. Few people were laughing. She needed better jokes. Simple as that.

That's all I'm asking for, from a comic. Make me laugh. She didn't make me laugh, at least during that portion of her routine. I DID laugh when she said her porn star name was 'Reince Priebus'. Now THAT'S funny. Even Reince thought it was funny.

the part about "skins and shirts" was funny. That was pretty much how she treats the press in the briefing room. I didn't get a lot of it because I'm not familiar with the references. I haven't watched the "Handmadent's Tale". But, how is a comedian suppose to make a joke about someone who lies like Sanders?

he missed a great opportunity. Of course, Trump seems incapable of telling a joke because he's too mean spirited. I think maybe having a comedian that was so raunchy was suppose to balance that out.
