I have no problem with you agreeing with smear artists that support your views. It does not change the fact that the Clintons used smears to try and manage the downside of Clinton's sexuality. During his Presidency, smear campaigns became commonplace. And both sides did the same stuff.

But privately, she embraced the Clinton campaign’s aggressive strategy of counterattack: Women who claimed to have had sexual encounters with Mr. Clinton would become targets of digging and discrediting — tactics that women’s rights advocates frequently denounce.

The campaign hired a private investigator with a bare-knuckles reputation who embarked on a mission, as he put it in a memo, to impugn Ms. Flowers’s “character and veracity until she is destroyed beyond all recognition.”

In a pattern that would later be repeated with other women, the investigator’s staff scoured Arkansas and beyond, collecting disparaging accounts from ex-boyfriends, employers and others who claimed to know Ms. Flowers, accounts that the campaign then disseminated to the news media
    .
It's not difficult to come to the conclusion that the Clintons got very good at the game.

Bottom line is that our country is turning into something closer to gangs than a Republic committed to laws and the truth.

Try addressing the only point we have examined so far.

Are politicians and their news outlets too close to each other for the objectivity of the news outlet to be maintained?

I see it everywhere, all the time. How about you?

In the past 10 years, how often have you seen CBS confronting Obama or Fox confronting Trump?

Add up the number of chummy 60 minutes interviews or chummy Fox News interviews with one or another major politicians.

For every Chris Wallace who knows how to confront, there are a dozen commentators on Fox who just grease the wheels of their common interest.

For every ? at MSNBC, there are pre-aligned commentators cheering on the demise of Trump every day.

These kinds of alignments are part of the News business model.

Think that is good for the News?
No, I agree that whether we are talking MSNBC, FOX, or any other news media outlet, they need to keep a reasonable distance, if they desire to be real news. But, that begs the question... is being real news what they want? I mean, they want to call themselves that, but do they want to do all that you have to do, to execute objective reporting?

No they spew lies and take him out of context. For instance when Trump talked about MS 13 the liberal media falsely claims he is talking about all illegal immigrants

Real news doesn't sell. So the business model IS preaching to the choir and creating ongoing soap operas of repeated stories that align to the target audience. And while an intelligent viewer can filter out the soap opera and pick the real news out of the skittles, we are slowly being herded into camps and fed bread and circuses. BTW, this is MY take. Atkkisson just reports the phenomenon and identifies the smear artists, which is what I expected when I picked up the book.

What he said ties in with his previous lies about immigrants. And not just illegal ones.

There was a time in this country when the news was considered a public service and NOT for profit, just another revenue stream for rge corporation that owned the network/source.
At that point it became primarily entertainment.

A very good non-political way to look at how the media lies is to look at the "pit Bull". There is so much #fakenews about the breed that there are breed bans in several cities including unconstitutional confiscations and signing away of rights in places like denver.

    All over #fakenews reporting.

Do yourselves a favor and just look at the issue a little and you'll see a clear way the media creates a narrative and convinces you it's true.

    3. when did he say japan doesn't build cars in the US (oh wait he said they did).

I could keep going but your media lies to you, and you think they are infallible for some reason.

But why then, begging the question, do they claim he said things he never said?
