Content-based restrictions must pass strict scrutiny - i.e., the regulation must be narrowly tailored to achieve a compelling government objective. A very high standard to meet.

However, my understanding is that this is not a content-based regulation, because nobody is allowed to wear items with the uniform that express a political opinion - an appropriate regulation for a government organization. The order was specific to the person, of course, but the policy does not specifically prohibit a BLM pin. It would include any politically-based message.

However, the bracelet should also not be allowed, based on the same regulation.

Yeah, a uniform is by definition uniform and therefore restricted from having political embellishments or capes or whatever. He can wear what he wants on his civvies.

Why would you make this topic about you?

I am discussing Black Lies Matter.

    Not anything about you personally.

And, Madeline ..... you can try to make the normal thinking folks disgust for this racist hate group all about you, but it isn't going to work.

We love you Madeline .... and we are also disgusted with violent racist hate groups like Black Lies Matter.
You and SD do understand the pin was not deemed anything other than "political".

So what you two 'believe' is irrelevant.

Black Lives Matter is an organization; not an individual. They have an easily-found official website. Do they advocate killing, or even harming law enforcement officers? You can't cherry-pick individual voices and claim they speak for the entire movement. Perhaps key members; but that's not "everyone carrying a protest sign."

Can you source that to the key members of BLM, or their website? Or are you ascribing the actions of individuals to the organization itself?

Sounds like a fair question, IF you can source anywhere that police on their website or on their patrol cars, whatever advocate doing harm to black lives. Or is it individuals and not the organization itself?
