not a bit. you're kinda suggesting a potential new category; "premeditated involuntary manslaughter"

    see? rabbit hole.

    I am! That is correct.

I worry what sort of society we will build, if these people are not stopped. The nurse who encouraged suicide has dozens of deaths, but could not be prosecuted here. He finally had a Canadian victim, and they arrested him.

"But officer, the robbery is not entirely my fault... look, I have texts of my girlfriend threatening to kick me to the curb unless I came up with more money for drugs and Gucci handbags!"

"hmm...that sounds like premeditated involuntary accessory to armed robbery.... what's her name and address?"

    rabbit hole.

Fair enough. It is not clear whether there would be unintended consequences.

In Russia, there are whole groups online driving young people to suicide; and it is spreading to other Russian speaking countries:
Teen 'Suicide Games' Send Shudders Through Russian-Speaking World

It makes kids CUT the whale image into their skin

among other things: ‘Blue Whale’ suicide game linked to 130 teen deaths is just tip of the iceberg in the world’s suicide capital Russia

    Sick shit...

As the article says, people have been arrested in connection to all this.

A special law has been passed, prohibiting these groups: Bill Outlawing Pro-Suicide Groups on Social Media Adopted by Russian Parliament

There are worries this will be used as an excuse to crack down and expand control of social media, in Russia, and in ex-Soviet Central Asian republics, all of which, pretty much, are dictatorships: Whale-Themed ‘Suicide Groups’ Present Opportunity for Internet Crackdown in Central Asia
    Thanks from Madeline

That is horrifying. I am surprised Russian parents aren't lynching these sadists.

I believe there was at least one case of vigilantism connected to this... In any case, I am sure the prison camps will be hell for them...

This internet seems to have made millions more monsters.

We have a serious child sex trafficking problem in Cleveland, and the pimps are using social media to find unhappy little kids and encourage them to "come stay at my house for a few days".

The kids think they're talking to another kid, so they trust them.

In Russia, there is also the A.U.E. subculture, online and offline.

It stands for (well, there are several interpretations, but this one is the most popular one) "Arestantskoe Urkaganskoe Edinstvo" ("Prisoners and Criminals Union")

It glorifies crime and violence, usually the abbreviation is accompanied by the eight-point star

the symbol of the Russian mafia, which the Thieves in Law, the bosses, tattoo one on each shoulder, as a sign of rank, and also one on each knee as a declaration that he will never kneel to the police, to the authorities

    Often also with their motto

"Long live the Thieves, death to bitches (rats, snitches, in this case) and trash men (slur for cops)"

There are internet groups, on Facebook, on Russian networks like VKontakte and Odnoklassniki; there are T-shirts

and AUE is now constantly appearing in graffiti

and even kids now tattooing the stars on own shoulders, to emulate grown up Thieves

Some say this is the mafia's way of gaining control over the youth street gangs, to use them for own purposes. More and more gangs all over Russia abandon their own names and colors and such and just swear allegiance to the AUE now. Regardless of ethnicity, btw. For example, I recently read about Buryatia, a region populated by indigenous Mongolian people, where locals say AUE gangs are now everywhere, wrecking havoc. And in nearby 99% white Slavic Chita region, AUE kids terrorize entire towns and have actually attacked and smashed up a rural police station, to rescue a detained comrade!

The issue is coming to a head now, after, last months, at a festival of some kind in Chelyabinsk, local youths first had some sort of a scuffle between them and then fought with policeman and kicked and attacked and tried to overturn a police car

All the while, they shouted "A.U.E.! A.U.E.!"

    Thanks from Madeline

The Italian mob is apparently also enjoying a renaissance in NYC.

Wonder how much they use the internet?

They just arrested a whole Luciana crew, last week.
