How is that insane? YOu want corporations and the rich pulling the strings of the politicians? Take private campaign financing out and you don't get politicians in bed with corporations

Money in politics is why we get what we get, a government working to give all out country's money away to the uber rich

Here is the problem: you can implement whatever public funding you want for campaigns, but you can't do anything to stop people from spending their own money on candidates, too. I can still start a SuperPAC and take a trash bag full of cash from anyone who wants to walk in and help me plug my candidate.

You can and you should be able to. However, I think

    1) you shouldn't be able to take a tax deduction for contributions you make, and

    2) every dollar should be publicly accounted for and traced back to the human individual who made the contribution.
    Thanks from puffin

Does it make any difference whether a school tax bill is 1 penny or 1150 pennies or 100,000 pennies?

Do you favor publicly funded school vouchers, or some other publicly funded means to allow parents to move their kids from public schools into private?

I figured it would be helpful to someone to know what kind of figures we were talking about. Plus, I gave a link to a direct source for additional reading.

does everyone on this site reflexively toss herrings?

The topic is taxing property owners, not for educating our minor population, but to indulge the political speech of others, even to the point of non-voters and illegal residents.

and on a side note: the action itself far outweighs any considerations of a numerical value!

Yes, I am all for public-financed campaigns, get the soft money out.

Now, why this scares the shit out of some here is as always, puzzling.

    Thx
