I've met hundreds (thousands?) of lawyers, and every one (except for the one who got disbarred) has taken his/her duties seriously and not treated it as a "game."

    You too?

I have NEVER been summoned for jury duty and I have to wonder what 'list' I'm on!

I would love to serve if given the chance.

Same here. One of the questions is always do you have any immediate family members in law enforcement and when I say yes my daughter is the state prosecutor in the next county over the defense pitches me out every time.

I did fail to show one time and got a call to go before the judge. There were 5-6 others who did the same and as he questioned them why they didn't show they all had ridiculous excuses and the judge would roll his eyes and give them a hard time. He got to me and I said "I have no excuse your honor, complete and total negligence on my part, I forgot". He thanked me and said don't do it again and you can go.

Yup, prior to my daughter being a prosecutor being an excuse it was my brother the ICE agent.

I did sit on one jury years ago for an assault case. Some guy hit another over the head with a bat at midnight outside a bar. The guy who was hit pointed to the guy who hit him. That guy said it wasn't me. No other witnesses were there to testify. There was some motive as the prosecution spelled out how the perpetrator had it in for the guy's sibling, he had ratted him out to police on another case. We got into the room to discuss it and I said I can't vote guilty. Just not enough there to put the guy behind bars. One other guy agreed and it was pretty much a done deal. We didn't want to look like it only took 5 minutes so we all had a cup of coffee and bullshitted for another 10-15, then went in and said not guilty.
