'Forensic evidence' isn't always what it's cracked up to be. There was a case in America where a dog killed a small child, but the parents were not believed in part because the wounds were not shaped how they would be from a dog's teeth. When one of those innocence project type orgs got them a proper attorney, it was shown that derp, the shape of the wounds were altered BY THE DR WHO TRIED TO SAVE THE CHILD. So messed up. They had already been in prison for many years, their lives never to be fully regained.
Thanks from Puzzling Evidence and Madeline

I remember that case. We have one here where the ex-husband is in prison almost entirely due to "bite mark evidence", agreed to have been suffered through clothing. The coat she was wearing was later tested and found to contain DNA from an unknown male.

He's still in prison because that DA is politically ambitious. It's tragic.

@HCProf....this is happening in Summit County. Former police captain convicted. Do you recall it? His name is Dennis Prade, if memory serves.

Bite mark "evidence" should not be admitted at trial.

Politics should be irrelevant. That kind of crap should be impermissible, somehow.

And what's the guy's defense attorney doing, anyway?
