Hi from the state you love to hate.

Hello, all. I've been reading this board for some time now and finally got around to making a profile. About me, I was born and raised in Orlando, Fl. (will probably die here, too), I'm 43 years old, former electrician, musician, and currently work for the State of Florida. I was in no way, shape, or form responsible for the 2000 election debacle. Or the Casey Anthony trial. Or the George Zimmerman trial.
Thanks from BDBoop, Minotaur, MeBelle and 1 others

Wait... does this mean you had something to do with Elian Gonzales being deported?

It is tradition to blame ALL of everything, even Rick Scott, on the Bermuda Triangle.

    Jus' sayin'.

I thought (g)Nome was in Alaska.....
    Velkommen!

I don't hate Florida or Floridians, although I do disagree with the political philosophies of some (not all) people who live there.

I thought the 2000 election was such an unbelievable sham and that it froze so many people into disbelief, they let it pass, thinking no one could possibly pull such a thing off and expect to get away with it, which is exactly what they did get away with.

Still not sure how a SCOTUS used the "reason" of lack of time to formulate an equal standard for a recount of votes before inauguration day, then used votes counted by an unequal standard of counting votes, to determine who was ahead at the time they made their 5-4 decision. How also, does the Secretary of State, the certifier of the election and votes, come from being a co-chair of the campaign for the brother of the governor of the state, who was running for President and who, was deemed ahead when the SCOTUS based their decision on who was ahead at the time, the brother of the governor, in the one state of 50 where not only that was the case, but where a voting controversy arose, where the SCOTUS vote was easily considered to be a "conservative" justice vote that won, because of a single Justice, handing the electoral college delegate votes to the brother of the governor. A perfect Hollywood script for a fiction, but it was not a fiction.

I thought all the evidence in the Zimmerman trial pointed to Zimmerman as someone looking for trouble (so he could assert some personal power his insecurities seem to make him feel he lacks) and finding the perfect situation, supported by a "stand your ground" philosophy (even if it had no standing for him in the trial) and the notion for some that the darker one's skin is, the more likely they are to be "up to something no good". No one will ever no, but I thought Zimmerman pushed Martin into a self-defense position (which with no firearm would mean resorting to one's fists) by following him and perhaps revealing his weapon to Martin who in a last ditch attempt to defend himself, lunged onto Zimmerman, in hopes to prevent Zimmerman from shooting him, which to Martin's demise, failed. That left Zimmerman open to claim self-defense without a witness to prove it was Martin who was actually trying to defend himself from his armed pursuer, Zimmerman. JMPO
