    Hallo!

New user here dropping into the hellish landscape of online politics.

Sidenote: I didn't think of it until after the fact, but my username actually has nothing to do with political leanings. It's a battle tag I've used for some time that I gained during an inebriated bout of group gaming, specifically Towerfall.

Politically, I refer to myself as a reform socialist. I have little interest in revolutionary politics in practice, only theory. I want to see socialism emerge gradually through the slow erosion of capitalism into a new system. I see this as an inevitable, and indeed desirable outcome of mass automation, and the slow obsolescence of human labor through AI.

    Welcome to the board,Bluedozer.

To be honest the Capitalistic system does not seem to be working too well for the average person, but right now we seem to be an Oligarchy.

    Welcome H-town.

Flashback to my sister's place in the Heights. ...and walking down Airline in the middle of an August day.

...oh and my sister's bf taking me to eat at the old...This is it. We went to Astros game that was boring...so we ended up at one of the very few neighborhood bars.
    Thanks from MaryAnne and BlueDozer

This Is It is still around and still going. With all the money coming back in, we've got a lot more bars, and restaurants, and everything else. It's a big revival. Granted, a lot of gentrification too.

    Howdy and welcome.......

I'm a bit more of a balance as needed kinda human bean.....Not all for or all against much of anything, but people beating on and killing one another or trampling one another's rights without realizing some sort of compromise is in order. As things change, due to all sorts of factors, I like to see balances adjusted to fit the era/period and its conditions.

Mostly, I think one of the most important things humans can do to try to get along/live side by side in peace, is consideration of one another. Just consider/think of, the gal or guy sitting next to you, as you. Aside from our personal tastes, we all appear to have basic needs that are similar, including what we would like others to do to us, good or bad. For the most part, if we don't like people kicking us in the shins, it probably is a good bet, they don't like it either, so it's something we should avoid doing to them, if we don't want them to do it, to us.

Always thought the founders of this nation were looking for a balance, too, of government (socialism?) and individual freedoms.....seeing government as the counterbalance to individuals or groups of individuals with too much power and influence, that would otherwise, go unchecked, were it not for a government that represented society. I think there is also a place for government in doing some things better than done privately/for profit.

Money, when misused and for undue influence as well as a lure for people to do dishonest and bad things, (when attached to greed and an addiction to gluttony) truly can be called the root of all evil in attempts to maintain a free society. When used to help those truly in need and to give a leg up for those who otherwise would not have equal opportunities as others, money can be a very good thing. We all just need a standard by which to identify and call out misuse and abuse of money and any power that comes with money, when used in the evil, rather than good ways.

    Enjoy the fray!
