Seriously though, I AM a little tired of hearing someone chime in with the fallacy of rugby being more violent than football. Unlike Leo I've actually played both sports, and football's pads are protective for the person doing the hitting, not the person being hit. Rugby sees more tackles, football sees more hits. Very few "blind", accross the middle style hits in rugby. The pads allow for more violence, not less.
LOL, what makes you think you know what I have played and what I have not?

You're just trying to cover up the fact that Gridiron players are a bunch of big girl's blouses in kevlar (and it's not fecking football)!

I would be very hesitant to allow my future kids to play football but if I did let them then I would have them wait until around junior high that way I could introduce them to other sports or hobbies in the years prior and hopefully that will make them less interested in football.

I did let my son play football, and when he no longer wanted to play, I didn't have a problem with his decision.

Absolutely!! I like the idea of a All American athlete - all sports. Sports is a good thing for young people. It teaches them how to compete and work as a team.

My brother played football and a wrist injury from it kept him out of the Vietnam War. So he could later become the official conservative of the family.
