Star Spangled Banner? Have always liked it. Maybe one of those things that you embrace because of familiarity.

And it is waaaaay better than the Jamaican national anthem!! During the Olympics i was rooting for anybody but Usain Bolt just so i didn't have to listen to that gawd awful song.

Even though you can't remember the words? Heh-heh...I'm sorry. Couldn't resist. I know YOU know the words.

"A Harris Interactive survey of 2,200 adults has found that nearly two out of three Americans, or 61 percent, do not know all the words to the "The Star-Spangled Banner," the national anthem."

As I said in the OP, I just don't think it's a very good song, technically. It's not catchy and it's not easy to sing. And if you can't sing, look out for clinkers.

Also, the subject matter is jingoistic and documents an anecdotal episode in an unnecessary do-over of the American revolution.
    Thanks from Babba

Hardly. It goes right to the heart of the subject. Two-thirds of Americans don't even know the words.
