I suspect that Reality will do some prison time. I also suspect that the lack of severity of her crime and prior military service record will be taken into account at sentencing.

I get that, but you don't think the president should have to go through any process to declassify information? Or is it one of those papal infallibility things where if he reveals it, that makes it unclassified by definition?

If you're just asking me if Reality Winner committed a crime, I'd have to say "yes." If you're asking whether I believe it was justified, I'd probably say "yes" to that as well - but she should still be punished.
Well that's my point. She still needs a punishment, legal experts need to figure out what and for how long. As I said, we cant have some going free while others are holed up in somewhere for doing the same thing.

Declassifying information is a formal process. However, it can be declassified after the fact. It is done fairly often. Usually when classified information is accidentally placed on an unclassified network.

You say "doing the same thing." My point is that Reality can't be lumped in with Snowden and Manning. Same crime, but VASTLY different scopes. One man steals a wallet. Another man breaks into a bank and cleans out the vault.

One might argue that since both criminals stole cash, they could be accused of "doing the same thing." However, the scope of the crime clearly matters.

A leaker is a leaker. Do you condemn Obama for prosecuting more leakers than any other president?

These people are not leakers. They stole classified information and disseminated it.
