Trump will lose his base when the people who elected him realize he is no better than the corporate establishment candidate he beat in the last election.

I picked the infidelity with a man, because although I believe he'd likely get away with that too, there's no "None of the above" option.

I haven't seen any better candidate throw his or her hat into the ring for the job. Donald J Trump beat a large contingent of Republicans including experienced and seasoned politicians. Then after defeating them, he beat the candidate that Obama said was the most qualified ever for the job. Now you can complain about Russian hacking, you can talk about the popular vote, but the Clinton campaigned knew the rules of the election. They didn't change. No matter how little you think of Trump, he won.

    None of the above.
Maybe if he converted to Islam and started praying to Mecca five times a day and chanting "death to America" in the oval office, but I'm not sure even that would do it. Maybe if he wiped off the orange, and revealed a black man underneath? Maybe if it turned out he was a transgender woman? If he came out of the closet as a gay man who imports pretty women to cover up his true sexual orientation?

If he did all of the above, he'd still have a core of followers claiming that it's the "liberal media" that's so unfair to him.

Nothing Trump does or doesn't do will cause his base to leave him. It's the RESULTS that will finally convince them he's a dud. They voted for a big gain in manufacturing in places like Wisconsin and Ohio. If real gains don't happen (and why should they?) they will become disillusioned. But so long as that doesn't happen, he can keep up the illusion.

...blame it on obstructionist Democrats who they will simultaneously ridicule because they have no power.

He could spend the night with a Coloured Russian homosexual and the inbreds would still think he's wonderful.

Trump has already altered his politics. He's gone back on almost every promise he's made.

Conform to media expectations of how a politician should act.

    What is his base?
That part is key. I think what he does is less important to his supporters than how he acts. The insults, the false accusations, the disregard for facts are all part of his appeal to many. If he quit being such a dick, people might take a closer look at this policies (or lack thereof) but the dickishness is like some shiny object that keeps people from noticing he has actually functioned at a lower level than "normal" politicians, and as we see here:

U.S. allows more seasonal workers as Trump pushes 'hire American'

he actually does quite the opposite of what he promised in his campaign.

So if he'd lost the election, you would have changed your mind about Hillary being a great president?

Totally agree. I still recall those focus groups on CNN both before and after the election of Trump supporters who basically said the main reason they would vote/voted for him was that "he was just like me." Over and over we heard things like "he swears like me" "he behaves like me" or stuff like "he is that guy at the bar, the consummate anti politician." They didn't pay attention to what he does now it was all chants and his persona. They didn't want the well spoken traditional politician, but the guy down the street. Its also what voters are saying in Michigan about Kid Rock potentially running, "he is the average guy." Its the new normal for right now.
Thanks from Babba, Blueneck and Ian Jeffrey
