The only problem is that the new one is the actual flag of the CSA. The flag that everyone calls the Confederate Flag was the battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia.

Yeah, I know. It's so '19th century' and irrelevant.

So you would rather have a CSA battleflag prominent on GA's state flag?

Keep in mind that that CSA battleflag was only part of GA state flag from 1956 to 2001.

No, I'm glad they changed it. As a consequence of changing it, Roy Barnes (D) lost his reelection bid and we've never had another Democrat elected governor since. Damn fine move!

My mistake, but not only mine:
It is sometimes believed that the crimson saltire of the current flag of Alabama was designed to resemble the blue saltire of the Confederate Battle Flag. Many battle flags were square, and the flag of Alabama is sometimes also depicted as square. The legislation that created the state flag did not specify that the flag was to be square, however.[7] The authors of a 1917 article in National Geographic expressed their opinion that because the Alabama flag was based on the Battle Flag, it should be square.[8] In 1987, the office of Alabama Attorney General Don Siegelman issued an opinion in which the derivation from the 60th Alabama Battle Flag is indicated, and also concluded that the proper shape is rectangular, as it had been depicted numerous times in official publications and reproductions;[6] despite this, the flag is still often depicted as being square, even in official publications of the U.S. federal government.[9]

In 2001, a survey conducted by the North American Vexillological Association (NAVA) placed Florida's flag 34th in design quality out of the 72 Canadian provincial, U.S. state and U.S. territorial flags ranked. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Florida

FL state flag is 34th bestest?? Unacceptable. could easily get into the top ten by changing the background to a Diver Down flag. would make more sense too..

Obviously that was purely for heritage and historical purposes, right?

    LOL
