That's because this country rarely shows the carnage that is done to a human body when hit with these weapons.
Start showing some realism and maybe people's attitude would change.

I would not be interested. I spent most of my life being a great single shot killer. For me a fully automatic weapon is for military combat not anything a civilian could need. I do reload and bolt action makes it easy to capture my spent casings. Also they are way more accurate.

I must agree with you. Americans really do not know or understand what a dead person looks like or smells like. And to have a body or twenty full of holes and blood and stomach/bile fluids draining out is very soul wrenching.

Especially when it is someone you knew personally...

We grew up but not out of that gun-loving culture.

Girls were not into that as I remember. (my older sister played Jacks, Jumprope and Hopscotch while I was shooting the bad guys with my Mattel Fanner50.......with every other cap malfunctioning)
We were playing with toy guns as kids all day long.. replaying westerns, making up bandits / outlaws and sheriffs and shit... was our most played game, pretend shooting people in western like scenarios. We later played video games like everyone else, ego shooters, night after night for a while in the 90's...
Biggest fun at the carnival were the booth where you could shoot bb rifles for plastic flowers...

Never fired a real gun in my life, never owned one, never felt the "urge" to fire one.
One has nothing to do with the other, from personal experience.

    Shit, yeah

As long as someone else is buying the ammo. At $0.25/round it costs $2.50 to shoot a ten round magazine for about 3 seconds, or $7.50 to shoot a 30 round magazine for almost ten whole seconds

Which means your ammo for cheap .223 rounds costs you approximately $2700/hour to shoot
