I doubt corporate greed had anything to do with it in the first 150 years or so. It just wasnt considered here even after countries like Germany had healthcare programs. What does that say about us?

It already is an entitlement. The trouble is with entitlements is that when you give someone free stuff, they come to think if it as a right.
