    Assad is a necessary evil, my friend. If he, or another powerful Alawite does not retain power, all the Alawites will be literally genocided. They will not leave a single one alive. That is a fact. Up for grabs is whether any Christians or Shia Muslims could survive.

    AND the place would get overrun by ISIS or a similar group far worse than Assad.

    Look at Iraq and Lybia. We didn't do them any favors getting rid of their bad dictators.

    Possibly, since 75% of the population of Syria consists of Sunni Muslims.

    I'm not advocating for removing a foreign leader, just saying that destroying the chemical weapons was good and it's too bad that Assad wasn't there for a photo op.
