I have guns. I like shooting. I believe in personal responsibility with regard to our self and home defense. I also believe that when seconds count, the police are just minutes away.

Not to say I agree with treating cars and guns in exactly the same way. They are different things, and should be treated differently.
Do you keep a vehicle for your entire life? Your DL is yours for life and as such is the only way for insurance Co's to know when you screw up.

What difference would that make? You sell your car and buy a new one, everybody changes the registration ... and your name attaches to both at the appropriate periods of time.

Except when it expires. And particularly, except when you change states.

No one I've read on PH is advocating taking our guns away.
That's an NRA distraction aimed at increasing sales.

    Yea no.

A Democratic congressman has proposed outlawing “military-style semiautomatic assault weapons” and forcing existing owners to sell their weapons or face prosecution. Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., argued Thursday that prior proposals to ban assault weapons “would leave millions of assault weapons in our communities for decades to come.”

That will go absolutely nowhere, and would be (properly) found unconstitutional.

Besides, it makes no sense. Sell them to whom? Canadians and Mexicans? Other nations' citizens? Given the only other countries they could really go to (third-world dictatorships), they're better off in our hands.

Yep, sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
Perhaps only the (democrat) weasel Broward sheriff has chicken shit deputies, but no matter where you go, when seconds count the police are minutes away. If you prefer being unable to defend yourself, that's your business. But if you propose making other people unable to defend themselves... luckily that's none of your damn business.

That's not 100% true. But, it's not really what I am most concerned about... I have more attention on pointless rules that don't reduce crime, but just slice away at gun owners, making it too expensive, too troublesome, too time consuming, etc... to own/use guns.
    Thanks from Ian Jeffrey
