I trust the voters. Once they choose someone, I try to be as optimistic as possible.

You trust the voters when they vote the way you want them to. I've never seen you be optimistic about a politician you don't support.

Trump is destroying trust everywhere because lack of trust creates chaos and he thrives in chaos. It's much easier to destroy trust than to build it up again.

I would give examples, but why bother? You will return to your talking points. I once praised Obama for restoring family values to the Democrat Party. I have written multiple threads early in Obama's administration on what I would do if I were him. When he was first elected, I quoted his promise to pay for every penny of his expensive programs with the hope that he would do half of that. I give each new President time to fulfill their best intentions. I have quoted the Economist several dozen times on the hope of Obama. I hoped he would apply the recommendations of his debt commission. That's HIS debt commission. I agreed with the Economist after the 2012 election that he should reach across the aisle to deal with the national debt. Holding people to their own promises IS optimism. Clinton embraced the Gingrich revolution. Obama ignored the tea party. I wish he hadn't. It was HIS promise.

In the past decade, some interesting economic studies have found that the level of trust in a society is an important ingredient for the economic performance and success of that society. The society with the highest level of trust in the world, from various surveys, appears to be Switzerland. I found that interesting. Switzerland, of course, has been a very well-functioning economy for, well, centuries.
    Thanks from labrea

I was talking about trust and politics based on trust. Nothing you've said here is related to that point, at least I don't see how it does.

He was prophetic on energy - perhaps too far ahead of his time.

So far, it looks like no one believes him or if they do, they may not be able to say why.
Certainly if he was telling the truth about his ability to size a man up in a minute, he wouldnt have the personnel problems he has.
