    You're comparing PH to Facebook?

Do you understand what the term "orders of magnitude" means?

And this is not the only political forum and it doesn't take much time to allocates a few minutes here and there. Not much to lose.

If the Russians truly are as efficient as you say they will cover all the bases. At least I would if I had a plethora of people at my disposal.

Yes and No. Of course one is many orders of magnitude larger but it's still social media.

I can relate to that. I've know people who moved to california and do nothing but complain. its particularly annoying when they complain about how crowded it is.

Facebook is a prime target since it covers many different demographics and levels of political interest over a high volume of potential impressions. (An impression on the internet is when someone looks at something, whether they click it or not.)
Twitter is also another prime target for the same reason. High volume, used by many, etc.
Reddit is the only "forum" I've seen that has detected actual foreign bots - but again, it's widely used by a high volume of people.

Niche-like social platforms (like PH) are a high-risk, low-yield target for bots.

Hell, when we found we had Google and Yahoo bots crawling PH we had a few people freak out (and those bots are 15+ years old and simply offer search strings).

I'm still not 100% convinced bots are as big a problem as people think, today. Perhaps when the elections were on there was an explosion but from all the evidence I've seen, its not near as wide-spread as regular joes contend - as an ongoing issue.

But dont most forums have an approval process? If I was posting from Russia that would show up in my IP address. So the Council here would know that. Would they approve of it? Maybe, but they certainly would also know I was from Russia. Facebook is worldwide and has no process for that. Posts are welcome from around the world. The Man might want to post pictures of his kids to family back there so they dont block that. Thats why its near impossible to stop Russian infiltration on FB without banning entire countries.

Russians are way too good at math to devote any resources to something that insignificant. Sadly, the ones you are thinking of do it because they believe it.
Well that's kind of insulting - minimizing our value to the russians like that.

Even then, bots don't just connect to the internet and run software. These servers connect through VPN (virtual private network) and bounce around the world as much as needed to go as undetected as possible. The same bot might appear to connect from Japan, or Russia, or some tiny island in the Atlantic ocean but ultimately you'd have to trace that all the way back to it's origin. Furthermore, these softwares connect, drop content, and disconnect quickly and move on to the next target - making that trace even more difficult - but not impossible.
