What Are The Odds On Impeachment?

    Please explain your reasoning.

I am baffled as to why it didn't already happen.

    Your thoughts?

Impeachment or Impeachment and Removal from office? If the Democrats win the House they may do an impeachment but it will be a waste of time. Just a political stunt. They don't have the votes for removal in the Senate. The reason that it has not happened already is that impeachment is reserved for high crimes and misdemeanors. The Democrats who want to impeach President Trump, are in the minority party. They do not have the votes, nor do they have high crimes or misdemeanors that they can prove. Impeachment is not just supposed to be a political tool for use when your party loses the election.

If President Trump were impeached by a Democrat controlled House, then not removed by the Senate, he would be in a more solid position than he is right now.

Unless something really jaw dropping comes out about Trump, he's not going to be impeached and since I think that the Republicans will retain the Senate he most certainly won't be booted out of office and I've been saying for some time now that I think he's going to get a second term unless the Democrats come up with someone spectacular to run against him.

Think about it. If the Democrats controlled the House and were to impeach President Trump. They put forth a laundry list for the Articles of Impeachment. He is acquitted by the Senate. The charges that were brought in the Articles of Impeachment cannot be brought again. Double jeopardy would apply. Now they could come up with new charges in another Articles of Impeachment but they would have to have something that was not brought up in the first try.

    Seems unlikely until then.

    Stay tuned for November.

That big "Blue Wave" that CNN and MSNBC used to talk about is right around the corner.

    Or not...

So, no matter what is uncovered about Trump, he will not be impeached because not enough Democrats will be available to serve justice?

You are making the erroneous assumption that no conservative will impeach Trump. This would especially be untrue in the Senate where members often do not follow party lines.

Let's say by some miracle the Democrats take the Senate. He still won't be impeached and removed. It takes 2/3rds of the Senate to remove him. That isn't going to happen.
