No he'd be considered the enemy.
Do you think that if JFK were alive today.....that he would be considered a Republican? Joe Lieberman with his final remarks stated he believed Kennedy would be a Republican today.
He was pro-life, Catholic Christian, Military Hero, against involving the country in other countries affairs, stood for strong borders and considered the Western Hemisphere our backyard. Was for reduced spending and did not believe in just entitlements.
Kennedy would give the purest Republican Principle in his famous speech 50 yrs ago.
Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You, Ask What You Can Do For Your Country!!!!!
Who on the left believes in this Prinicple, other than the President of The United States Barack Obama? Why doesn't the left remember this Principle and why has it taken this President to point that out to them? Thoughts? Answers? Discussion?

Not to mention with what little time I have here I think my threads and posts speak for themselves against your broadbrushed assumption!!!!!

He would still be a Democrat, but the lines have changed a bit since the 1960s, so I don't know if he could win the DNC nomination because he might be perceived as being too far right.
He was slow to come around, but he did ignore supposed "States Rights" in school integration. That was hugely LIBERAL, whether it was a Republican or a Democrat in the early 60s.
Yes, perhaps by today's scale, Kennedy does embody what THE REPUBLICAN PARTY USED TO BE.
However, based on my reading of history and my recollections, albeit from a very young age, I'd bet that if we had survived until now, you'd find him more of a Jimmy Carter than a Ronald Reagan ex-president.
He could be either one.
Either way, he was absolutely terrible.
Probably would've been better than Johnson though.
