    Christianity is superior....

On the one hand, if you're a practicing Christian, we all assume you consider your own religion to be superior to all others. Otherwise, why choose it?

Then of course, we have the truth of our countries values on religious diversity. In other words, you don't have to be religious, or to choose Christianity, and we treat other religions as equal to Christianity.

How can we hold the idea that our own religion is superior to all others while respecting the Constitution and Bill of Rights, which give us the freedom to believe in or not believe a religion.

    Your thought?

I practice Buddhism. After my father's suicide, I felt completely let down by my birth religion, (Catholicism), and spent a long time looking at other religions before hearing Buddhist teachings, which I resonated with.

IMO, Christianity is as valid to Christians, as Buddhism is to Buddhists. In my every day ordinary life, I meet and like many people, Jews, Christians, other Buddhists atheists.

I get along with everyone. But on forums, there is so much fighting about religion. AND, sadly, I find myself participating in that fighting.

What hooks you into fighting with other people of different faiths or with atheists?

    Your thoughts.

One of the things that seems to hook me is the Christians who condemn and actively wish suffering on LGBT people.

Not every religion believes it is the only path to God; Judaism does not. When your faith includes a tenet that all nonbelievers are condemned, it inculcates an attitude of superiority. The leaders of many christian sects do not do enough to teach respect for others, IMO.

One Buddhist teaching that makes sense to me, is that the Buddha taught 84,000 different methods to attain true peace and freedom from suffering. Of these 84,000 teachings only 5% of them have been translated into modern languages.

How do I know whether Christianity or Islam doesn't have some method of the Buddha in it?
