I don't confuse a collection of religious texts compiled by King James' scholars with God.

Any text or dogma or clergy or church or parable that exists is man made. All of it.

That our ancestors attempted to know God doesn't mean we have to accept anything they said, but it also doesn't mean we should just give up.

I once knew a guy who did all those things, for the same reasons, but he also commited a horrible crime.

How does that guys crime affect you? Is your charity and self-worth diminished by his failure?

Or is he just some guy you don't know and you're just gonna keep on doing what you know is right?

My actions are not in the least affected by his actions. For me what I like to do is what I wish had been done for me many years ago. But even with that there is so much misery and hate that I must do something to help with anguish where I can.

    I didn't think I was bickering.

But if I say so it sounds like I'm bickering.

You've got me over a barrel, sir.

Yes, that is what I would expect. We're talking about a (imaginary) guy who is a total stranger to you, but also believes some of the same things. He's nothing to you. A total stranger.

This is my point I wanted to make in this thread. Sorry to use you as a example.

If some Christian guy I don't know in some place I've never heard of does something awful, or 1600s Spaniards commit genocide, or some nutbar in Rome despises women - it has nothing at all to with me and my own religion.

I don't speak for them. I don't even know them. They said they were Christian? Bully for them.
    Thanks from April15

And how do you demonstrate daily, that you follow Christ's teachings and what values, virtues do you express/display towards others that would demonstrate you believe and follow the teachings of Christ.

How would you like others to treat you in relation to the values you would say align with Christ;s teachings?

How often to you think about how you treat others, especially relative to how you would like others to treat you?

How do you treat others (being honest and not lying to yourself) in ways that do or do not align with your values and Christ's teachings?

If one were to review the bulk of your postings here on this site, what about them would indicate that you not just claim to believe in Christ and his teachings, but learned them and follow them (for example, doing unto others as you would have them do unto you)

If your postings were made by someone else, what would they indicate to you? That the poster and their postings were or were not, in line with the values and teachings of Christ?

The OP does not seem to be a setup for debate. It asks people of faith to explain what their basis and expression of faith might be. How can that possibly be debated?

Quote Jesus. Try to explain how you try to live. Simple.
