If you claim to be Christian.....Tell us....what did Christ teach

What are the values/virtues you see as being a follower and believer of Christ's teachings?

Does your copy of the Bible include Matthew, Chapter V?

And how do you demonstrate daily, that you follow Christ's teachings and what values, virtues do you express/display towards others that would demonstrate you believe and follow the teachings of Christ.

How would you like others to treat you in relation to the values you would say align with Christ;s teachings?

How often to you think about how you treat others, especially relative to how you would like others to treat you?

How do you treat others (being honest and not lying to yourself) in ways that do or do not align with your values and Christ's teachings?

If one were to review the bulk of your postings here on this site, what about them would indicate that you not just claim to believe in Christ and his teachings, but learned them and follow them (for example, doing unto others as you would have them do unto you)

If your postings were made by someone else, what would they indicate to you? That the poster and their postings were or were not, in line with the values and teachings of Christ?

To help others, to forgive and to be kind.

    Don't they all?

And how do you demonstrate daily, that you follow Christ's teachings and what values, virtues do you express/display towards others that would demonstrate you believe and follow the teachings of Christ.

Its more of a personal relationship, not something you need to direct towards others.

How would you like others to treat you in relation to the values you would say align with Christ;s teachings?

Every person's walk is up to themselves. Some of the rudest people I have ever met were so called Christians. I don't expect anything more from them than anyone else.

How often to you think about how you treat others, especially relative to how you would like others to treat you?

Never, I just be the person I am.

I often think many people are stupid without even knowing them and I tend to pre-judge people. There was a new city council member once that I had a dinner meeting with. I walked away thinking this guy is worthless because he's an idiot. I later found out that he donated much of his time volunteering at food banks and that his daughter was dying of cancer. To this day, every time I think about how I judged him, it disgusts me.

This is a political discussion site. Its meant to debate issues, not to promote Christianity. Its like asking how do you promote Christianity when you go to a football game. Being a Christian doesn't mean you have to walk around promoting it all the time.

If your postings were made by someone else, what would indicate to you, they were or were not, in line with the values and teachings of Christ?
    I don't understand this question.

Just coming from Church where the Sermon was about PEACE! I could not help thinking, What if we just decided we are a peaceful nation? Walked away from all the wars we are waging and quit meddling in other countries?

Do not give me the bit about because being strong. We are strong, but we are weakening our nation by fighting sect wars.

We could better prove our strength by refusing to kill. By walking away we would be saying," No more," to the other countries.it could not be worse.

If we don't know what Jesus believed from his own writings, how do we know his disciples did.

Not a Catholic,Bourne, but I believe in one Church. They have a series with different Religous Leaders speaking about how we all share the same faith. The basics. They do not speak about the differences in different Denominations.

The Pastor has this series every year. I love it.

Sweden's last war was in 1814, Switzerland, 1815.

That is the point,Knight. We do not have to invade any country. The killings are the very reason we have so many attacks here.

Wars are about nothing but power for the few.

Following our own values my immediate family went grocery shopping and picked up a list of items that our local food bank had requested on their web site. They are looking to put together holiday baskets to help out needy families in the area. We are on our way to leave them at a drop off location were several other people are doing the same thing. A food bank truck is expected to pick up the whole lot today and bring it to their warehouse for sorting into baskets ready to go to the most needy before the holidays.

***People are hungry all over the world. We can't help everyone but charity starts in your local community so help when you can, where you can, as much as you can, and how you can.

Patience, courage, sacrifice, love, honor, the ability to forgive, etc.

    Of course

And how do you demonstrate daily, that you follow Christ's teachings and what values, virtues do you express/display towards others that would demonstrate you believe and follow the teachings of Christ.

No. I am a Christian and I am a sinner that screws up every day.

How would you like others to treat you in relation to the values you would say align with Christ;s teachings?

Be honest, show integrity, and ask questions before making baseless accusations. Be willing to make a point and move on. There is nothing to be gained by bickering. Forgive each other and move forward. Treat others the way you want them to treat you.

How often to you think about how you treat others, especially relative to how you would like others to treat you?

    Daily

How do you treat others (being honest and not lying to yourself) in ways that do or do not align with your values and Christ's teachings?

I start out with the best of intentions and even turn the other cheek. When I meet people who are not going to respond to niceness, I unfortunately meet them on their level.

If one were to review the bulk of your postings here on this site, what about them would indicate that you not just claim to believe in Christ and his teachings, but learned them and follow them (for example, doing unto others as you would have them do unto you)

I am forced to defend people that I have absolutely nothing in common with and, in doing so, I get persecuted by the masses. Only those who understand that it is my job, as a believer, to come to the aid to those who in need ever really understand what the bulk of my posts are about.

If your postings were made by someone else, what would indicate to you, they were or were not, in line with the values and teachings of Christ?
That, regardless of the criticisms or the misguided notion of masses the postings remain consistent, honest and in accordance of defending those who don't have a qualified voice.

Note my answers are in red. You might not read them, but thanks for the thread. It will make me pause and reflect on this. Maybe I might even become more patient when faced with Internet bullies.
    Thanks from KnotaFrayed and MaryAnne
