Are you talking about the Leah Remini series? Yes, I'm watching it. Scientology has always fascinated me - great movie on HBO covered it as well - you might want to check it out.

It's really nothing more than a brainwashing cult. So sad what they do to people who leave.

It's a cult.. there are thousands and thousands - millions - of different people believing and following different cults.

Remember Waco, Texas ? hundreds of people chose to die following one crazy dude. And there are multiple examples of that.
Scientology is an American phenomenon. While they exist in other countries too, not anywhere to the numbers they can gather in the US.

They are not recognized as a church in Germany. I see them as highly dangerous and intrusive, yet in the free world, there's no law against people scamming others out of their money, as long as it's their "free will".

We see it these days more than ever in the recent past.. people are gullible, and they are willing to forgive their "leader" any type of misstep, misbehavior or drinking wine while preaching water, as long as it provides a sense of "common cause", and someone there to "save" them. Yes, i'm talking about Trump and how he's seen by his followers as unfailing, and how reality gets distorted into a big conspiracy against him.

It is extremely laughable, i agree.

You will excuse me for having the same personal reaction to people believing in a guy walking on water, turning water into wine, creating the world out of nothing, the male humans out of dirt, and the female humans out of a dude's rib cage, some guy splitting the red sea, a burning bush telling folks words of wisdom.. you name it. Harry Potter has nothing on those stories.

I wish I could take credit for this but a great quote and I don't remember who I heard it from -

"The one advantage that Scientology has over all other religions is that its holy book was written by a professional fiction writer."

going clear was an eye opener. I new they were nuts but that was insane. The funniest thing was we love clearwater and go there often... who knew it was the bastion of scientologists.
