IIRC, according to Leibniz, time is merely the ordering of events. Naturally, with Einstein's theories of Relativity, this gets more complex.

Apparently, there is such a thing as objective existence. The fact that there are universal (and sometimes dimensionless) constants prove that they do.
Universal constants may prove to be as fleeting as our belief that the earth was flat. Every time we think we know what's going on, we learn that we really had no idea.

In order for time to exist, there has to be a periodic pattern to measure it against.

The way I see it, if there was no no such thing as day and night, months and years, and nothing moved, everything was static, time couldn't exist. Or at least there would be no way to measure it, or perceive it.

Time is a component quantity of various measurements used to sequence events, to compare the duration of events or the intervals between them, and to quantify rates of change of quantities in material reality or in the conscious experience.[4][5][6][7] Time is often referred to as the fourth dimension, along with the three spatial dimensions.

Does time exist in our dreams? I know it seems to, certainly. But it stretches and bends all over the place. I've been on epic journeys through decades of a life, loved and lost, triumphed and failed, only to wake up a few minutes after I went to sleep. The entire dream may have taken a matter of seconds. My perception is clearly not to be trusted. And this reality may be no more real than my dreams.

In other words, events must occur.

I'd assume that's the effect of DMT.

Speaking of which, I actually came earlier today; and it was quite intense: that speck of a second felt like eternity.

But, that too depends on time, doesn't it?
Correct. It is constant regardless of the units you'd care to measure the distance or the time -- which shows it is not a mere mental construct but a property of some external, objective reality.
