What kind of resources are you finding in Georgia, any good?

My first stint outside was in So. Cal, who have more resources than Wa state, but you have to apply and that takes time, and there were few other resources there at the time, I knew one place that would give a single man one modest bag of food every two months...

What might do you, would be a town like Issaquah Wa...

They have a great hot meal program, a super food bank/clothing bank, the town is beautiful and the living is easy...

I always looked for a medium-sized town, one that has some resources, but not full-blown missions, and I'd also try and pick a prosperous town, not a "ghetto" because "that's where homeless are supposed to be."

Sometimes a change of venue can make all the difference, think you car could make it across country?

    Thx
It could make it...but it drinks gas like a Mustang.

Yes, there is even etiquette and do's and dont's among tramps.

Not around here. Or in Phoenix Phoenix is the first place I faced all the LIARS! One guy had a story about needing money for gas. In fact I was in the same boat but had a friend on the way with $20. So, I was rummaging around for change, maybe even a $1 bill or two and he stole two pieces of my luggage as I was doing this.

Since you have an actual car that people could pump gas into knowing you really need gas you could panhandle at stations.

I took this one guy on a journey. Oh you need gas? Where is you car? Far away? Oh, then let's get a gas can. Dragged him to Wal-Mart all the way around to gas cans and bought one and then back to the gas station and story after story about how this wouldn't work I was like you don't really need gas. But thank you, now I have a can in case it's needed for myself or another sometime, glad I could waste some of YOUR time, you con-artist!

Newbie homeless can be a pain, to themselves, to fellow tramps, and to the community.

When I had to panhandle in Cali. I asked: "Can you spare a quarter for a homeless man...?"

I used to say: "Can you spare a quarter for a homeless man today..?"

But I dropped the "today" at the end because that would provide a ready answer: "Not today..."

And I wouldn't dream of being aggressive.

Panhandling is legal in Wa., but not aggressive panhandling and fortunately you don't come across many of those.

    Thx
    Thanks from Madeline

This guy followed me into the store the last two times. The first time I didn't notice until I left and he came back outside but this time he was sure to let me know.

It was a mistake I ever gave him money before. Now he thinks I am a constant supply.

Well, if you are willing to try, then I am willing to help.

I could put you up for awhile, show you Issaquah if you like, and maybe how to tame a town with a $15 leaf rake.

And I'll send gas money, incidental money if you need it, the Walmart is a little difficult to get to here, but we have a Western Union at the supermarket.

PM me the particulars, estimate how much you will need and I'll go there in the morning.

    Thx

A few months later at another store I had started to root around for money when he launched into the same story I said man, if you nee help eating on a regular basis you need to go to the mission and/or food banks. And get a new story.
Certain parts of the country are in severe crisis with homelessness. California is making news daily as it turns out, the liberals in million dollar homes want San Diego and LA etc. to drive out the homeless by any means possible.

In Cleveland, homeless people are (I assume) folks who grew up here. I can't in good faith recommend this town as a choice destination for anyone who needs to get back on his feet.

BUT....if you can relocate, and you know where you want to be, I might be able to find you a local person to act as a referral for you, etc.

    MAYBE.

Doesn't hurt to ask; my friends scattered to the 4 winds after retirement, etc.

C'mon up, I'll even help you out with gas money etc. and help you get outfitted here.

They swept the homeless out of a neighboring city where they lived under overpasses. I do not have any sympathy for the addicts. I have sympathy for their addition, but there are programs available at no cost everywhere they will put you up for 90 days even.

I will even give $1 towards a beer if someone is honest that is what they want. But I can't all the time. And not to the aggressive ones.
    Thanks from Madeline
