Ok, but then you can ignore your thinking of "do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

Both Christianity and Islam, basically, have developed into intolerant, homophobic and misogynous religions. Both religions have grown themselves by the sword instead of good deeds.

Jesus said we would know his people by their works and deeds. That means Jesus would not recognize Christians and Muslims as his people, and neither do I.

Where does the Bible say that good deeds are needed?

In fact Jesus says the opposite.

    Luke 12:49
49*“I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50*But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! 51*Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52*From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53*They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

When Jesus said he would recognize his people by their works and deeds, do you think he meant evil works and deeds?

Christians and Muslims sure seem to think so as they have done more than their share of evil.
