OK. My bad then. Some of us still speak Yiddish over here.

How do you pronounce it in Hebrew nowadays?

For what it's worth, our Seder clocked in at about 2.5 hours. Partially due to fairly leisurely dining, partially due to my seven year old twin nieces reading their way through the passages at typical second-grade speeds.

I'm in the car, heading back home, typing from the backseat while my sixteen year old daughter is driving on the turnpike. Trying not to listen to my wife's corrections and suggestions. On the plus side, I have a bag of leftovers from last nights dinner.

For convenience, "PAY-sahk" is generally deemed acceptable. Those experienced with Hebrew phonetics use a more-accurate pronunciation.

GENERALLY deemed acceptable? Please post your general evidence.

It seems to me that only someone who's never heard it before would pronunce it 'paysock'. I for one have never heard any Jew pronunce it the way you do.

    Same for 'baruch'
