It shouldn't be too hard to provide a few examples of Jews wishing each others 'paysock sahmeyakh' then.
As far as using the standard 'Latin' alphabet, you could have written 'pessar' or 'pessah'
Lastly, correcting someone who makes a mistake like you do could be taken as a favor instead of a painful remark.
