An eternity of suffering versus an eternity of singing praiseful hosannas. Both sound awful in their own ways.
Thanks from NightSwimmer, Zephyr and syrenn

There are several Hells. There is one in Somalia, one in North Korea, and one in Venezuela. God didn't create them, humans did.

I suppose, if you believe that he/she/they created everything, then that's part of creation. So are mosquitoes. That's one part of creation that could have been left out.

Of course, both of those are constructs of a specific religious tradition. The OP question itself presumes that particular religious orientation.

No I don't believe in hell.

Being a parent I know that I want my children to be good, to listen, to make good decisions. And since they can't do that yet, and I can't verbalize to them, in the moment, why they need to make good choices, I tell them that Santa is watching. And if they're bad they won't get any presents.

The comparison is too obvious to ignore.

Its a well intentioned lie. A way for educated clerics to persuade illiterates not to kill everybody and take everything and rape the survivors.

There are 3 doctrines of hell.

    1. Is fire and brimstone suffering (which is based on a poem by Dant'e (I don't believe in this)

    2. It is everlasting death no existence (I don't believe in this)

    3. It is everlasting exisitance in total solitude from anything created by God and God Himself (this separation leaves and emptiness that burns like fire and brimstone total loneliness, no companionship, no one to live with but yourself). This is the doctrine I believe because you choose yourself over God,
